thank you very much, this howto was the 99% solution for me to set up an apache for ssl the first time.

after starting apache i got an error like 'illegal attempt to re-initialise SSL'. Solution: SSLCertificateFile and SSLCertificateKeyFile must be located in the VirtualHost section the relevant conf-file.
